PAM376 Radiomir 3 Days Oro Bianco

Shall I just say it? Ok, the PAM376 is in my opinion the most beautiful Panerai watch ever made. Not the most beautiful Radiomir, no, the most beautiful Panerai watch ever made. There, I said it. That was my first impression when I took these pictures in Geneva in January this year, and I still feel this way today.

I have never been more surprised by how amazing a watch felt and looked in person. I have a thing for the California dial, so that helps of course. But the combination of the brown Cali dial, the creamy/beige Luminova and the gold double pencil hands is just jaw dropping. And its plexi does add to its looks no doubt.

Of course there's a downside too, or for me at least. The 47mm case of the 376 is solid white gold (oro bianco) which makes it a very expensive watch. The approximate list price in January 2011 was a whopping 27,800 USD - it may have changed by now but it's unlikely that it has become less expensive. It's probably worth it but its price does put it out of the range of most of us Panerai enthusiasts. On the other hand, the first special edition Radiomir PAM21 with platinum case is currently for sale on watches24seven.com for 220,000 USD - so perhaps that puts things into perspective again. Or maybe not.

The Radiomir Oro Bianco is a special edition watch. It will produced in 2011 only. I'm told that the production number has been changed to 501 units. The 376 has the in-house Panerai P.3000 movement. This is a new hand-wound mechanical movement that was introduced this year. The movement has a power reserve of 3 days.

The watch comes with a black crocodile strap and a white gold thumbnail buckle. A brown strap would have made a little bit more sense to me but the strap is really nice nonetheless.

Finally, here's a photo of the original vintage Radiomir 3646 on which the dials of the new 376 and the 249 and 262 (platinum) are based.
